Recently

Pictures from the past few days, which saw a trip up to Hareskoven for a Sunday afternoon walk (a very different experience from last time), a trip to Jægersborgsgade for a dose of sunlight and caffeine, and a new-to-us comfort food that might just become a household favorite: tapioca pudding- in this case with lemon and pistachios (but I suspect it would be equally delicious in a less dressed up version).

Birthday Girl

Pictures from yesterday, which felt like the first real spring day, complete with blue skies, singing birds and sunshine that almost felt warm. It was the perfect day to throw a birthday party for Venus (even though her birthday is today). Seven years. Hard for me to believe, but there it is. She's getting big.

The party was a lot of fun. There was pink layer cakes. Balloons. And lots of dancing and singing along to this song. Good times- and not just for the girls.
Turns out, I'm still not too old to enjoy pink cakes and confetti.

Happy birthday, Venus.

Love,

Mom

Everyday Beauty

Copenhagen isn't pretty in the winter. In spring, or summer, or even fall it's a lovely place to be, but winters are mostly just wet, grey and grim.

And then again.

Sometimes, if you take a closer look at the details, you may find a little bit of beauty here and there, even on the most cold and depressing days.

Like in the golden afternoon sunlight. Or the colour of the sky when the sun sets. Or in the words of passion scribbled on walls around the city.

And it's good to know, that even though Copenhagen gets very cold, love is still all around.

Winter Days IV

A few pictures from a bitterly cold weekend, which started out bright and sunny and ended up seeing a Copenhagen covered in snow. It was pretty, but at the same time so cold my fingers would go painfully numb after a few minutes outside (making it difficult to take photos!). We took a few shots around Hellerup beach, and with the sea frozen over it looked strangely arctic but also gorgeous.

I know spring isn't too far away, but it sure feels like it right now.

Winter Days III

Pictures from a fairly quiet weekend that was mostly spent around home. It seems like winter finally arrived -it is so cold outside!- and right now it feels right to just stay in with good book, a hot drink and a few candles.

And also dreaming myself away to places I've visited over the last few years.

Lots of tea was made this weekend...

...and coffee, of course.

I played a bit of music.

And we went to Mother for brunch. I'm not usually a fan of the generic, overpriced breakfast foods you'll find most places in Copenhagen, but this was very nice. Pizza for breakfast? Yes, please.
